Feeding Information

How should I introduce my newly purchased Growing Paws food to my dog? The best way to change your dog's food is to do it gradually. The main thing is it to take it a step at a time, probably over the course of a week or so. We recommend starting with a mixture of a quarter Growing Paws and three quarters of the current food. You would then increase the amounts to half and then three quarters, until eventually you are sure that your doggies digestion is fine! Remember, the slower the transition the less chance there will be of upsetting your doggie's stomach.

When should I switch my puppy to an adult recipe? Transitioning from puppy food to adult food is an important step in your dog’s growth. Most puppies are ready to switch to adult food around 12 months of age, but this can vary depending on their breed and size. Smaller breeds typically mature faster and may be ready for adult food by 9 to 12 months, while larger breeds might need to stay on puppy food until 18 months due to their slower growth rate. The key signs it's time to make the switch include: Growth slowing down: When your puppy stops growing rapidly and starts to maintain a more stable weight, it's usually a sign they’re ready for adult food. Body condition: If your dog has reached a healthy, adult weight and body condition, it may be time to switch to food that is formulated for maintenance rather than growth. Always check with your veterinarian to tailor the transition to your puppy’s specific needs!
