Cold pressed dog food is one of the most meaningful upgrades you can make to your dog's diet. Unlike standard kibble , which is cooked at temperatures above 120°C - cold pressed food is processed at under 45°C. This lower temperature preserves more of the natural nutrients, enzymes and proteins in the ingredients, meaning your dog absorbs more goodness from every meal. Cold pressed food also digests differently: rather than expanding in the stomach like kibble, it breaks down gradually from the outside in, making it significantly gentler on the digestive system.
All four Growing Paws cold pressed recipes are grain free, contain a full joint care blend (glucosamine, collagen, green lipped mussel and chondroitin sulphate), and are free from artificial additives. Available in 2kg trial bags and 12kg bags, delivered throughout Northern Ireland.
Why choose cold pressed over standard dry food?
Cold pressed dog food isn't just a trend - there are specific, measurable reasons why owners who switch rarely go back:
Nutrient retention is higher because the low-temperature process doesn't destroy the vitamins, enzymes and proteins that high heat extrusion does. This means your dog gets more from the ingredients themselves rather than from added synthetic supplements.
Digestibility is improved because cold pressed food behaves differently in the stomach. Kibble absorbs moisture and expands - you may notice your dog drinking heavily after meals or occasionally vomiting undigested food. Cold pressed food breaks down steadily and gently, which is easier on the gut and reduces the risk of bloat, particularly in larger breeds.
It's also the closest convenient alternative to raw feeding for owners who want the benefits of a high-meat, minimally processed diet without the handling, storage and biosecurity challenges that come with raw food.
