SupaClean vs Odor-Kill vs Parvo-Virucide - Which Dog Hygiene Product Do You Need

SupaClean, Odor-Kill and Parvo-Virucide each do a distinct job. They're not interchangeable, and using the wrong one for the wrong situation means you either won't get the result you want, or you'll be paying for more than you need. Here's exactly how to think about them.

SupaClean - Your Everyday Cleaner

Think of SupaClean as the product you reach for most often. It's a concentrated, pet-safe all-surface cleaner that removes the dirt, grime, grease and everyday bacteria that build up wherever dogs spend time.

What makes it different from standard household cleaners is that it's formulated to be safe around dogs - including on surfaces they eat from and sleep on. Standard kitchen or bathroom cleaners often contain chemicals that aren't suitable for contact with pets. SupaClean removes that concern entirely.

It works on virtually every surface a dog owner needs to clean: food and water bowls, kennel flooring and walls, crates, patios, decking, artificial grass and indoor hard floors. At its lightest dilution (1:400), a 1 litre bottle makes 400 litres of ready-to-use cleaner - making it exceptional value for everyday use.

The reason standard air fresheners and even most pet deodorisers don't work long-term is that they add a scent on top of the odour source without destroying the underlying bacteria and organic compounds causing the smell. It's a hospital-grade, DEFRA-tested virucidal disinfectant developed by The Animal Health Company. Among regular users, there have been zero reported cases of Parvovirus since 1990. That's not a marketing claim - it reflects decades of use in professional kennel and breeding environments where the consequences of an outbreak are severe.

Most dog owners know Parvovirus as something puppies are vaccinated against, and assume that vaccination makes it someone else's problem. But Parvovirus can survive on surfaces, soil, clothing and shoes for up to 12 months - meaning it can be brought into a garden or home without any direct contact with an infected dog. Unvaccinated puppies and dogs with weakened immunity are at serious risk, and standard household disinfectants do not kill Parvovirus. Only a specialist virucide does.

Beyond Parvovirus, Parvo-Virucide kills a broad spectrum of viruses, bacteria and fungi, including those responsible for kennel cough, distemper and leptospirosis. It's also formulated to work in dirty, real-world conditions - porous concrete, timber, drainage channels and heavily used outdoor runs - where many disinfectants that only work on clean laboratory surfaces fall short.

Parvo-Virucide won't: replace everyday surface cleaning (use SupaClean for that), or eliminate odours (use Odor-Kill for that).

How the Three Products Work Together

For the best results - particularly in kennel, breeding or multi-dog environments - the three products work best as a layered system:

Step 1 - Clean with SupaClean. Remove surface dirt, grime and organic matter first. Disinfectants work more effectively on clean surfaces — organic matter can neutralise active ingredients if present in large quantities.

Step 2 - Disinfect with Parvo-Virucide. Once clean, apply Parvo-Virucide to eliminate viruses, bacteria and pathogens. Allow to dry fully before reintroducing animals.

Step 3 - Treat odours with Odor-Kill. For areas where odour is a persistent issue - artificial grass, kennel bedding, soft furnishings - treat with Odor-Kill as part of your regular routine, separate from the cleaning and disinfection steps.
